Not all rain storms and thunderclouds

Just an update in case anyone was worried. I was incredibly emo last post.

I'm doing ok.
Still feel crap on the odd occasion but the last 2 days I've been mainly ok.
What helped greatly was having a chat with my best friend at 5am Thursday over skype.
I talked, I cried, I let some of my feelings I haven't really told anyone about out of my mind and into words.
It's was a start, and it felt good to let it out and have someone listen who I know really truly cares about me.

Still thinking of seeing a counselor, but I'll see how I go this next month.

Hard drive situation:
It's more a less a lost cause fixing the drive. I'm still thinking of getting it looked at... just in case it's repairable (or at least the data can be saved) if not... RIP 'Archives' 2.0
Think I not naming another hard drive that, both hard drives with that name have died.
I'm buying a new hard drive on Sunday (which will be named 'Jack' 2.0), 1TB this time, $135, laptop powered, unlike my old one.... which was large and heavy and not very portable (part of the reason I dropped it)
This new one is the same size as a Nintendo DS, has more of a protective casing around it and plus I'm going to keep it inside my old DS case at all times (unless it overheats in there... got to look into that)
In other words, if I drop this hard drive, it won't die straight away. It's a lot safer.

My first dead hard drive ('Archives' 1.0) I took back to the shops last week to get sent back to the manufacturer. It's under warranty so they are sending me a new one... also a 1TB which will straight away become my back up drive that'll never move from my desk.

Data recovery
This is going to be a long road but it's not all bad.

Music/mp3s:
I remembered on Thursday that I had my old laptop external drive ('Jack' 1.0: 300GB) which had a copy of my all my audio books, commentaries, etc & all my music. However, the files on this hard drive haven't been updated for 3 months, so any organisation or new mp3s I've got since then are lost.
It could of been so much worse, and just today, I remembered that I have a fair chunk of these new mp3s on my phone. Like my Glee music.

Videos:
-I have two old old hard drives ('Rhiannon' and 'Myfanwy') which I have managed to recover a big chunk of my videos from during the last hard drive crash so I can do the same again.
-Some of my friends have leeched stuff off me in the past so I can get a fair bit back this way
(Doctor Who & various David Tennant Stuff for example)
-My friend masked_zombie has a new unlimited internet download plan who has offered to re download what ever else I need. I only get 120GB per month limit, it would simply take me way too long.

But yes, I've learnt my lesson. I'm never not having a back up of all my stuff at any given time.
Also going to back up my photos and important documents on physical DVDs as well.
Twice burned, forever cautious now.

Days before it happened, I was thinking about moving all my files from my laptop internal hard drive onto my external but decided to put it off. The stuff on my laptop hard drive, couldn't have been replaced... it has my resume and graphic design work on it. The throught that I might of lost it still shakes me.

Anyway, today (once I've had some sleep) I'm off to Coogee beach with my friend from Brisbane mystic_jack whom I have not seen since Sydney Supanova 2009. It's been far to long since, so I'm looking forward to it. Also looking forward to doing the ONLY thing summer is good for: Swimming! :D

Well then, I think it's time for a drink and then bed.
Good night everyone...
