LJ is now blocked at work. I wish sites would stop tagging themselves as "social networking"!

I've been gone too long, so I'm not sure what happened here, or when. My formatting is seriously messed up -- like the "ads" (that I've blocked) are taking up 1/3 of the screen, so my actual view is pushed waaaay over. (It's all views, too -- Friend's page, etc.) Did this happen to anyone else? Do I need to pick a different layout now?It was the ( Read more... )

My LJ account expired last week and I opted not to renew the paid membership. I switched to "plus," which means I have to scroll past an ad or two (but only at home -- they are totally blocked at work). I'm going to post the CFF entry tomorrow, and then take an LJ break for a few days and evaluate how I feel about continuing with it. I know I won't be able to give up blogging entirely - I'm too much of a chatterbox and show-off - but I might be approaching it from a different angle, format, tool, etc.

...commenting is back. It's been up for a week and I've only gotten 1 spam. Not the several per hour I was getting before. So, I'm totally willing to keep it open. They're still screened, just in case, but at least -- for the time being anyway -- people don't have to get LJ accounts just to comment.

In answer to part of my previous post: "What the hell is up with the forced WYSIWYG* editor?! It is not a bad thing, but I wish I had a choice. It will let me go to the source code for one edit at a time, but then OVERRIDES my edit when it comes to the cuts. Besides, typing in straight HTML keeps my skills fresh for work."
