In answer to part of my previous post: "What the hell is up with the forced WYSIWYG* editor?! It is not a bad thing, but I wish I had a choice. It will let me go to the source code for one edit at a time, but then OVERRIDES my edit when it comes to the cuts. Besides, typing in straight HTML keeps my skills fresh for work."
I finally got it to work! I had to take everything out of the table (which means my fun trick of posting from the scrapbook might not work anymore) and let the WYSIWYG editor do things its way. It seems that posting from the scrapbook yesterday FORCED the editor, which requires a different code for the LJ-cut (replace the square brackets with carrots):
[div class="ljcut" text="More behind cut"]
[/div]
As I'm posting a new message right now and am not being forced to use the editor, it would seem that it's connected to my use of the "Post to Journal" function of the scrapbook. So, y'all, the editor thing was forced, but it's not a new LJ policy. I already have a work-around.
