So I'm reading a biography on Anne Sexton. She was a famous 60's-70's poet, known for her explicit confessional poetry and stories.

Queen Elizabeth I  enjoyed doing dual translations to relax, have fun, and keep her mind sharp.
She would also translate bible verses from Latin to French and then back.
She also was fluent in Italian as well as a couple other languages.
I've always wanted to do something similar, like writing a story or poem in korean and translating it into English ( Read more... )

A few of the other village kids noticed her.
Her eyes twinkled as walked by.
Some pointed and some whispered.
Others shrieked.
The few brave walked near her, watching her and the snake.
She smiled and stroked the dead snake,
adjusting it around her neck.
Like a scarf.

She giggled as she trotted along the dirt road, dragging a long stick with one hand.
Her black hair was messy and her face covered in dirt.
She had a thick rope around her neck.
Only it wasn’t a rope, but a snake.
A dead snake, slung around the back of her neck.

I was rifling through my school email account when I discovered a bunch of poems and field notes from 4 months ago.

The field notes were about volunteering at the San Pasqual reservation. Most of my notes were on the interactions I had between 2-3 kids per session. Mostly 2-3rd graders. They were fun, but I loved working with the kindergarteners. ( Read more... )

I really want to graduate already and be done with school... at least until grad school starts...

I prefer working and making money then going to school and falling more into debt...
I have about 7 more weeks so I should hang tight...
