So yeah... busy weekend. Lets recap!
Cat and Sandy got into my house late (like midnight) on Thursday night. We stayed up for a bit and chatted, but we were all pretty worn out, so we crashed. Friday we let Sandy sleep in while Cat and I went on into work. We grabbed Sandy for lunch, then dropped her off with her father before heading back to the office ourselves. Cat and Deb took off in the afternoon to go pick up Kyaks in Fairhope, Shannon and Mindy took off to go look at Motorcycles, so I stuck around the office and held down the fort. Upon their return, Debbie, Cat, and I went for dinner at the Tip Top restaurant (very good). Over Dinner, Cat and Debbie both demanded home made icecream. Debbie did so on the grounds that she gave me the ice cream maker, and Cat did so on the grounds that she wanted it and she knew where I slept... So, I stayed up until 2:00am friday night making home made vanilla.... about 3 quarts of it, in fact. I knew that if I made any less, I'd never get any of it :P
So, Saturday morning I dragged my ass out of bed 6:30-7:00 so Cat and I could make it down to the office to meet Debbie for a bike ride. That was the first ride I've gone on since I left for California :( I put 25 miles on bike (finally breaking the 500 mile mark on it). We did it at a 15 mile pace... I could probably do better if I work for it. When we got back to the office, Sandy was waiting for us, and the 4 of us went over to Gary's place for the company picnic. Shannon and Mindy met us there. There was a shrimp boil, kyaks, and jetskis... oh my! Gary's place is right on the water in wolf bay, so we all took the time for some water sports. There were dolphins involved too... a small pod was cruising around in the bay all day, so while I was out on the jetski, I killed the motor after finding the dolphins and let them come up to say hello. After a brief game of follow the leader, I came back into the dock and enjoyed the food and company. I spent way too much time on the jetskis.... those were fun. I even got Sandy on one, then let her drive! (mwhahahaha!)
Anyway, after leaving the party, Debbie, Sandy, Cat and I came back to the office, had ice cream, and made dinner plans. We all thought it would be amusing to take Cat (the one who's allergic to wheat) to a restaurant that's famous for the wait staff throwing bread at you at high speed! (Lamberts - Home of Throwed Rolls) Shannon and Mindy, as well as Sandy's father met us, but Debbie went on home. So, we all had fun watching Cat dodge rolls and chatting with each other. After saying our goodbyes, we all went home, and I just passed out.
I woke up this morning to meet Debbie and Cat for a 7:00am ride, but I just couldn't do it. I've managed to reagrivate that back injury that just wont go away, and I pulled a muscle in my shoulder last week, so I wasn't feeling a bike ride this morning... especially not after yesterday. So, I took Cat into the office, where we found a sick Debbie, so Deb and I stayed at the office to get some work done while Cat went off on her own. By some odd luck, Cat found the same group of riders that we were riding with eariler in the year. She made the connection and called us when they got back to their coffee shop, and Debbie and I headed over there to chat with them and see about riding with them again. Email addresses were exchanged, and we came back to the office.
Cat and Debbie took off about 2 hours ago to get back in the water with their kyaks, so I'm at the office solo this afternoon, jamming out to the new Evanescence CD (streaming in courtesy of my local radio station). I'd like to think I'm being reasonably productive, but between posting to LJ and reading Two Lumps, I don't know that I've made as much progress as I should be, given the time I've been at the office. Oh well... this is what I get for not having anything better to do on a Sunday :P
Oh, in other news... one of the guys in my Kempo Class happens to be the electronics teacher at the local high school. He and I were talking a couple weeks ago, and he said that his class was entering a robotics competition this year. He said he was looking for adult advisors to help out with the afterschool activities involved with the robot. Of course, given all the robotics work I did my last semester at UTC, this immediately perked my interest, so I volunteered. I'm going to poke my head in
tomorrow and see what's up. Kurt also asked me if I wanted to be on the technical advisory board, so I'm going to follow up on that too. This should be alot of fun ;)
Anyway, enough procrastinating... back on my head!
