Orange felted hat

This is my first attempt at felting, I knitted the hat on size 9 circular needles and Herdy Orange wool. Felting the hat was interesting shall we say. My washing machine (front loader) had a hot setting, 90 degrees, but the programme ran for 2 hours, 45 mins. I added far too much washing up liquid which ended up coming out of the dispenser and flooding the kitchen. I stopped the cycle 30 mins in, rinsed and drained. After a night on a caserole dish and plastic bowl it looks like this.

Does anyone have any ideas how I should decorate the hat?
