We accepted an offer on our house in 2015. The last day of the option period, the buyer backed out. So we took the house off the market and waited. And waited.
We put the house back on the market last summer. We accepted an offer in November and closed in December.
We packed up our household goods and put them in storage. We spent Christmas in Mesa, AZ with my sister-in-law and her husband. We then traveled to Santa Fe, NM on the 28th to stay in an AirBnB not far from the Plaza. We found a place to rent and moved in on the last day of January.
We'd been looking at homes since we got here and the real estate market is crazy. We put in an offer on a home off Sawmill Road and got outbid. We finally found a home that we really liked but it was waaay above the budget we (I) envisioned. I bit the bullet and we put in an offer and were accepted. It looks like we will close in late March and occupy early-to-mid April.
So this should be our forever home in the foothills a few minutes north of Santa Fe in the Las Estrellas development. It's a dark sky neighborhood with no streetlights and covenants & restrictions barring bright outdoor lights. The name says it all: "Las Estrellas" means "The Stars" and the night sky is front and center. We'll be a half an hour from Ski Santa Fe, have access to many walking trails and a few minutes from the Plaza and the De Vargas Center for shopping. It's a dream come true.
Sadly, with all this commotion, our senior Westie, Robbie, seems to have developed lymphoma. He is 14 years old so we're treating him with prednisone to deal with the swelling and to provide him comfort so we're taking it day by day. I do not believe we have long with him.
