Holy shit time has gone by so fast! It seems like Thanksgiving was just yesterday and now it is nearly a week later!
It felt really good to sleep in on Black Friday...no shopping for us! However we had to get up a bit earlier than I wanted to because Rey and Mother Gregula wanted to go to the casino so we met up with them at
House of Wah Sun for lunch where Greg had his new favorite Chicken Lo Mein and I had my usual Mongolian Chicken. Had to convince Mother G. to try something different than the nasty Chinese buffet that she and Rey usually go to. Turned out she really enjoyed the egg drop soup and liked the Chicken Chop Suey. We went to the Ameristar Casino (formerly Resorts which was formerly Harrah's) in East Chicago, IN and Greg and I managed to break even on the slots. Rey didn't fare so well but he had a good time which was what counted :). After we were done we had a snack in their Double Down Diner which was a cool little restaurant wth a 1950s malt shop vibe. I had a slice of cheese pizza, Greg had a chicken club sandwich, Rey had an Asian duck meal with teriakyi and hot sauces and Mother G. had the $5 dollar soup. Yep, they charged $4.99 for a teeny bowl of freaking chicken noodle soup!
Saturday we spent most of the day relaxing in bed *ahhhhh*. But we had to get up because we wanted to go to see
ZooLights at
Lincoln Park Zoo. At first I didn't think that we were gonna be able to make it as there was no parking, um make that no FREE parking :/. But we managed to score a parking spot a few blocks away which wasn't too bad as it wasn't freezing out or anything. Unfortunately we only had a couple of hours in the zoo because of the parking situation :| and we still hadn't had dinner yet so we stopped in their food court to have a bite. I had a grilled cheese sandwich and Greg had the turkey wrap which imo was ridiculously expensive. Come on, $7.50 JUST for the wrap with NO sides??? Oh well, I guess they have to make their money somehow as the zoo itself is free.
The rest of the week was a working blur, no days off from Sunday-Thursday. Exhausting! But I am finally off tonite and will regale you with the tales from the icebox aka Chicago in my next post. Same bat time, same bat channel.
