Happy Needless Turkey Murder Day! Just remember, they are not "beautiful, intelligent animals", but in fact "ugly and stupid and delicious." Ah, Friends' Thanksgiving episodes. Seeing Monica
dance around with a turkey on her head never gets old.
So, who saw Saturday Night Live this weekend? It was surprisingly good. I loved the
Kevin Federline sketch. "I'm suing FedEx for stealing my name." It's really sad when he starts to look like a good parent, that's all I'm saying.
I don't know what the Muppets thing was about. It was just really funny to see Animal banging it out on the drums and Seth Rogen in a dog suit. Probably the highlight of the night, although Spoon was good too.
Okay, onto Supernatural. (First off, does anyone mind me using this icon? I don't think it's that spoilery, and hopefully you've all seen the premiere by now, so...)
This episode was just...okay. Pretty average. It didn't blow me away like last year's. I guess I was expecting more out of a premiere, but after waiting so long, maybe my expectations were too high. I noticed that the show has a different feel to it now, somehow. I can't put my finger on what it is, exactly, but it's there. I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing yet. There was some comfortingly familiar stuff as well though-Dean eating, Dean being horny, Dean being a general dork. Oh, Dean. Point by point, here are my impressions of the rest:
- "Hell's Bells"? Hell yeah!
- Ooh, awesome new credits! I love how each year has a theme. Season 1 it was the EMF, season 2 it was the fire, and now it's the clouds and lightning from the Devil's Gate. Nice touch.
- Dean with the dancing and thumbs up is too cute. Great musical cue with "You ain't seen nothin' yet." So, question: what did Sam see that made him want to gouge his eyes out? C'mon, inquiring minds want to know.
- I wonder how many takes Jensen had to do with the cheeseburger? Oh, to be a sandwich upon those lips...
- "Helloo, bleeding here!" *snicker*
- I'm not sure how I feel about these new hunters. I guess it's conceivable that the boys would inevitably cross paths with other hunters checking out the same cases, but...I don't know. I kind of resent these two coming and blaming the guys for leaving the gate open. It wasn't even really their fault. You shouldn't criticize if you don't have all the facts.
And then there's these two new girls...I've watched this episode three times, and I couldn't tell you who's supposed to be who. The girl who steals the shoes looks really similar to the girl with the sword. The one following Sam is the one who shows up with the sword, right? So is the other one the girl who steals the shoes? I'm confused. (And those are some pretty ugly shoes. I certainly wouldn't kill anyone over those. Where would you even wear them?)
-The drain cleaner scene is kind of hard to watch. Fortunately, Bobby bursts in with his bitchin' ride and saves the day. Some nice symmetry with that scene from the pilot, too.
- "What's in the box?!" Okay, I've never seen Se7en (that's the one with Brad Pitt and Gweneth Paltrow, right?), so I didn't get the reference. It just made me laugh that Dean jrandomly blurts that out. And then everyone looks at him like he's crazy and Bobby smacks him. Aww, Bobby's like their new dad now. Yay, Bobby!
- Maybe this girl's sword (it was a sword, right?) is like her version of the Colt-it can kill demons with a touch.
Final thought: It was great to see Dean acting so happy, but I can't help thinking that this is a bit of a façade. Like how he told Gordon that he had to keep his game face on, maybe he's doing the same thing here. Not that I blame the guy for wanting to have a little fun, but he brought Sam back and now he seems to have little regard for his brother's feelings or how this affects him. You know eventually Dean is going to crack, it's just a matter of when. And that's something I can't wait to see.
