Writer's Block: A Little Light
I've wondered this myself. I'd guess it has something to do with the smaller relative size of the freezer making it easier to locate things without a light. I've seen bottom drawer freezers with lights, so it's not universal.

Squirt, my cat, has found a new toy in the pull chain for the laundry room light.
