Instead of having Nicole fax you a copy of your birth certificate, have her FedEx an original (if she has one).

As for cashing your check, do you have a bank account at a bank that has a local branch? They are usually very understanding about the lack of photo ID *if* you already have an account with them. You could also see if your employer is willing to void your check and pay you in cash.

No bank, unfortunately. Still trying to figure out if my wallet has been misplaced (in which case, I laugh at my own idiocy) or if it were deliberately misplaced by someone who doesn't want me to leave VA...

Yes. When I lost my wallet at the end of Libertycon `06 (we were about 10 minutes away from the Knoxville airport, which is roughly a 2-hour drive from Chattanooga, when I realized I didn't have it; a return trip would have been about 4 hours, flight left in 2.5), the TSA was remarkably good about letting me in. Despite my being a clear red flag from any profiling standpoint - accented white guy traveling with a black guy with guns in his checked baggage, and a middle-aged Canadian woman ( ... )

you can request from from colorado but it take up to 20 days for processing bummer

When TSA says "copy" of the birth certificate, do they mean one with a raised seal or any old photo/fax copy?
