So we are in Newcastle at the moment with Bex and Marcus. Great to see them again, and it's nice to have someone to sit up with early in the morning and talk about stuff like what shitty fantasy books we have read recently.
(Books finished: 1. The Historian. I really enjoyed this, it's a vampire novel in the Dracula style and follows its formula of scholars researching information that will lead them into dangerous situations. But it's well done and would be a great plot for a Vampire game.)
We spent yesterday travelling to Edinburgh and back to see my Aunt (and my cousin and his boyfriend) and eat an initially unidentified substance -- fortunately not gefilte fish -- that turned out to be quorn. It was great to see them all, haven't done that for over a year, but the travelling was severe. Trains were being diverted via Carlisle so a journey that normally takes 1-1.5 hrs was taking 3. Got to walk through sunny Edinburgh on the way there, through the meadows, which was pleasant. Unfortunately the way back was a pain -- train was delayed for an hour and they didn't have time to clean it before they turned it around. So ... 3+ hours on uncleaned train with filthy loos and no one staffing the buffet, noisy drunks singing just about anything that came into their heads etc etc.
(All fuel for my next blockbuster, Drunks on a Train)
TV series watched that I've never seen before: 1. House. I should try to watch this, now I have a PVR and all!
