Yeah, you’re right

Stopped a car last night while trying to find a DUI. End up being a guy who is deemed a habitual violator for traffic offenses, which in this state, is a felony charge. Thought that the guy was a DUI but ended up only being .04, so I assume it was more likely the weed he had smoked earlier.

But thats not the point. The car in question was a blazing orange Eclipse convertible. The plate was false, not belonging to the 2001 Chevy its registered to. So I stop the car to check it out. On the way to the jail the guy said "yeah, you probably stopped me because of how I looked isnt it".

Now I am used to allegations of the "racism" crutch all the time. But this white kid wearing a nice dress shirt and dress pants (never mind the tattoos all over and piercings) felt that he was singled out because of one thing. The yellow bandanna around his forehead. Um, yeah, I as a police officer chose to stop you because youre wearing a yellow bandanna on your head. ( I should point out as some might that gang colors are displayed this way by sporting "rags"), however we do not have a problem with any gangs of mid 20s white kids roaming around well dressed sporting lemon yellow headwraps..

So, I ended the evening with "yeah, you're right".. Never mind your being a horrible driver that you are banned for life in our state from driving for the rest of your life.. or the fake plate... or not signaling your turn to get off the road as soon as I rolled up behind you... or your apparent state of intoxication (that I didnt even charge you with). It was because of your well dressed headgarb.
