Back to school?

That's right! I am a student once again, albeit an old one and still working.

I just started classes at San Jose State University for Masters in Physics. I have forgotten many things, as I was expecting, but I find that I remember more things than I thought I would. It is and will be hard for the next 2 years or so as I take afternoon/evening classes while still working my full-time job. This semester I have to leave work early as my classes start at 4pm, so I am losing on 3-6 hours each week on Mondays and Wednesdays. Since I work Sunday through Wednesday and class homeworks for both classes are due every class session, the Wednesday homeworks are really tough on me as I only have Monday and Tuesday evening to work on them, and little time during lunches.

I am glad to be doing it though, as it is providing me a new challenge - a new dimension of life and will open new doors in the future. Emmy has also started her final year in school and also work at her internship at the Family Court of the State of California (dealing with divorce cases regarding the custody of the children involved). She is loving it so far and is excited about working there so far. She is not getting paid, so it is a little disappointing for her, but on the positive side a regular court-employee (called a mediator) earns +60K/year. That is definitely a great job and considering it is a state job, the benefits would be outstanding too.

We have a change in our wedding plans so we are having to deal with cancellations and new bookings. It has been busy last few days because of it, but the new plan is actually making things easier and possibly cheaper.

Anyways, with all going on, there is not much time for soccer or going on short trips with my Emmy. We rely on Saturdays as the only common day we are both off and could maybe go somewhere for a day. Hopefully, after 2 years when I finally finish as well, the wedding will be over and we will just be working and there would be more time available evenings and on weekends. Until then, we just have to soldier-ant the path ahead of us.
