Halfway into becoming 34, Ive succumbed to adulthood by finding a regular chiropractor to care for a pinched sciatic nerve, as well as other bodily ailments that have plagued me.
Meeting Dr Joe happened organically. The pain started 3 weeks ago. I knew right away I had to see a specialist, but was afraid that whoever I chose (off the internet) wouldn't make me feel so comfortable, and give me the kind of advice I figured I would already know, in terms of self healing.
Okay, I was sorely wrong. It took so long to manage the pain and get it under control. I had never abused narcotics until this point. I'm talking.. "aspirin martinis": straight up chased about 800 mgs of aspirin with wine. It was one of the few ways to numb the pain. I couldn't sit in a cab/car with both cheeks on the seat without the pain of a thousand pirhanas eating into my leg from the inside out. Now that I know this pain, I know exactly what to wish on my enemies.
Dr Joe came to my work. He was looking around and I could tell he'd never been in before (the bar has a regular clientele). I mostly remember thinking OH THANK GOD I WASNT A DICK TO HIM. You know how a server, or people in general, act indifferent towards you until they learn something about you that can benefit them??? Fuck, I hope I didn't appear too thirsty or two-faced. The conversation went very well, I explained my pain and how I would have to private pay. He was so warm, friendly, I immediately felt at ease. I set up an appointment 2 days after meeting. Since I will be going away on vacation next week, we agreed to do a quick session to knock out whatever could hinder me during the 2 weeks im away.
The first improvement I will say - it no longer hurts to sneeze/cough.
3 cheers to Adulting!!
