Today was Piper's birthday. She spent it the best way she possibly could. She stopped at a cupcake shop near the hotel and got herself a red velvet one. Then she bought a mix of cupcakes to take home with her.

They were all hers, but she was willing to share. Maybe.

Thanksgiving at the Hyperion was a tradition by now. Piper and Veronica made sure of it as they once again took over the kitchen. They were cooking enough food to feed a small army.

Various appetizers were available to enjoy (some including bacon) while awaiting dinner. It was just a few hours away.

Piper was currently sitting on the front porch, listening to her iPod. The music provided a slight distraction as she was quietly reflecting. She tried not to feel sad about certain things, but that proved to be difficult. She was sure it wasn't a coincidence when an ABBA song started playing next. Piper didn't sleep very soundly. So she decided to take a nap during the day. It was just much of the same as she dreamed once again.

Piper spent most of the previous day cleaning the apartment. Or at least making it more clean. She and Veronica were expecting guests today after all. Plus, it's what Piper does when she's upset or worried. Of course, she had been very worried about Veronica since finding her unconscious in the parking garage.

For now, she waited.

Piper sat in her room for the last time. She had the Book of Shadows beside her, ready to hand it over to Phoebe.

Last night, she couldn't believe she was leaving. Today, she knew it was something she couldn't avoid. She'd be back in San Francisco tonight.

She was very determined not to cry, though. That was likely impossible.
