OMIGOD I just nearly had a heart attack. I get balance alerts from my brand new bank account, that I just opened up after being in Chexsystems hell for four and a half years(apparently banks have gotten a bit better about reports in Chexsystems, but when I moved to the city I couldn't open an account anywhere because I had an old record with them for bouncing checks as a college freshman, so I was stuck using my bank that was 5 hours away). We've deposited money for apartment deposits, and last time I checked had a nice sum all set to move in somewhere. I get an email this morning that tells me, however, that I have $6.96 in my account. #$%@^#$%^!!! I go to log into my account because, my god, that's a good $900 missing from my available balance, and of COURSE the internet at the fabulous cafe I'm at decides at that moment to be SLOW so it takes me a good 15 minutes to log in. I should also mention that I'm running on no food and a double americano, but their americano shots are easily 6 ounces, so I'm shaky and my time is moving at least three times as fast as the time around me. So I finally get to my account, and it's my savings account that only has six bucks in it. But between the mega amounts of espresso and the adrenaline rush of panicked oh god where did my money go, I'm having a HARD time slowing down.

But hey, I'm in Philadelphia. For the forseeable future. We're moving here, my lover and I, and I'm looking for apartments from today until I find one, hopefully soon. So, anyone who knows anything about Philly(ok, I'm actually specifically interested in neighborhood descriptions), drop me a line and tell me what I should cling to/avoid like the plague. Listings are in our price range in Fishtown, South and West Phila (as they say on the highway signs, I'd forgotten about that), and also WAY outside the city(I'm not moving to Philadelphia to live in New Jersey, even if it is just across the river).
