Both David Cook and David Archuleta of American Idol are excellent singers. They really deserve to be the top two contestants to compete in the finals of American Idol. The viewer's made the right choice.
David Cook, an ex-bartender, has a wonderful way of taking a song and making it his own. I particularly like the way he interpreted the song, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. He totally turned it around by injecting it with his signature style. It came out awesome! The lesson we all can learn here is that it pays to be yourself. Each person has his own unique qualities that differentiate him/her from any other human being on the face of the earth. I believe that when we do things in a "cookie-cutter" manner, the world is short-changed.
The 17-year-old David Archuleta has this season's best vocals. One of the judges kept on saying that David's vocals were so good that he could sing anything...even something out of the phonebook. Who would have thought that he once suffered from vocal chord paralysis when he was a child? There was even a time when he lost his voice in the middle of a song that his mother had to go up and finish the song for him. The lesson here is to never give up on your dream. We should learn to turn stumbling blocks into stepping stones.
Congratulations to these two Davids who have obviously defeated their Goliaths!
