One of the classic writers of pony novels died on June 14th, aged 90.As a horse-mad and very pedantic little girl, I adored British pony books, in which stalls were cleaned, ponies misbehaved, and most people were pretty bad riders until they'd worked at it for a while. As I have been telling everyone who would listen for the last couple of days, it's got to be rare to look forward to something for more than thirty years and then have it exceed your expectations. And yet that happened on Sunday, when my brother and I went to Magnetic Hill to see Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
