a beautiful plane for astronomy, dancing, and skipping NAMM

The beautiful airborne observatory SOFIA (a white Boeing 747) was flying over Mountain View and Palo Alto today. I caught a glimpse of the plane with its F/A-18 escort in Palo Alto (possibly on its way back to KNUQ Moffett Field) while driving back from the Traditions in Swing class. If I'd been paying attention (and had time), I would have gone over for a tour.

I really enjoyed the swing class. I wasn't dancing, but I learned some new things about the evolution of a couple dances. That class put me in a good mood, plus I got to see some good friends. I figured they would have already taken all the dance classes. So, that was also a nice surprise. I wish I had more time for the history of dance classes.

Now to see if I can dance a little tonight at rehearsal. Though I've told our artistic director that it's unlikely I'll be able to perform for Viennese Ball, I'm going to see if I can try for one of our dances. There are moments in the day when I feel like I could dance, like nothing is wrong. Then, a moment later: my body reminds me. Ouch.

I'm leaning toward skipping NAMM. All that walking around may not be the best for me. I'll miss seeing some things and some friends. But, it'll be better for my body, I think. If I don't go, I'll likely attend Friday Night Waltz this Friday. I'll still probably stick to low-key dances.

On top of everything else going on, it seems that my fridge is breaking. I suspect either a thermostat failure or the compressor isn't shutting off. It's keeping things too cold. You might not think that's a terrible issue, but I keep medication in there that is not supposed to be frozen. I'd better make some calls.
