Bellatrix Black: 8 November 1965

Dear Mother,

Would it be possible for you to send Volumes 16, 17, 20 and 22 of Toujours Pur to me? Professor Binns told blatant lies! made some rather defamatory statements today in my History of Magic class, and I would like to hex him into oblivion if he weren't already dead! refute his claims. I know that is a heavy load for Noctua to carry; ( Read more... )

Professor Binns died, and he's still teaching?
When did he die. He was alive when he bored me in 1945, although I didn't think death would really change his teaching method.

Yes he is. It's awful!

*shrugs*

But what can you do to get rid of a professor who's dead. Sacking him certainly won't do any good.

*brow furrows*

I think in 1955. *nods* That's right. September 1955; right after term started.

*eyes widen*
I hope he wasn't as boring when he was alive as he is when he's dead! And he never listens! He just drones on like some hideous bumblebee, putting everyone to sleep!

He started in my sixth year, and until then History of Magic was one of my favourite subjects.

Taking it for NEWTs did mean I could catch up on the sleep I lost studying for other subjects. I don't think I would have passed potions of Astronomy without the extra sleep. He's probably less aware of students sleeping now then he was when he slept, himself.

I feel the same way about potions. It'd be my favourite subject if it weren't for Slughorn. A decent teacher can make all the difference.

*smiles*

Only Binns could make sleeping a NEWT-level event.

Don't see why you could need any sort of books from home. There's practically every book ever written in the library.

*sniffs*

They don't have the Black family genealogical history. They don't have any decent family histories.

*makes a face*

Unless they're in the restricted section; and old Pinch-face won't let me in there

*laughs* Why would genealogy books be in the Restricted Section?

Is Tu- Tujoors Pur your genealogy book? Geez. Ours is just written in the front of my grandpa's Bible.

I don't think they would be. It's just they're not in the general section; so if we have any, they're in the restricted section.

*haughty voice*

Toujours Pur is the motto of the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black, you ignorant cretin!

Sorry about that! Bella hasn't had her coffee yet!

Bella! How was History of Magic today?

*glares*

Fine, if you take into account the fact that the professor is a flat out liar!

*raises an eyebrow*
A liar?
Hmph! That doesn't sound like Binns at all! I mean, the man's a historian -- he likes facts and dates and details! I doubt he'd distort the truth!

*gives him a sour look*

You are naive, aren't you? There's facts and then there are facts. The winners always write the history books.

How do you suppose the goblins wrote about their 'rebellions'?

What did he say? How you’re all inbred and mad? You don’t need books to prove that.

*turns around, feigning surprise*

Sorry Prewett, didn't see you. Did you say something?

Ah, you're going blind as well as deaf, Bellatrix. Must be all that inbreeding

*gives her a cool look*

I just don't pay much attention to the buzzing of insignificant insects; that's all.

He didn't say anything horrid about our family, did he?

Yes he did Reg! It was awful to have to sit there and listen to him!

Why? Why would anyone do that?

*disgusted look*

Binns is an idiot, that's why! He doesn't care about how reliable his facts are. He's of the 'It must be true or they wouldn't have printed it' persuasion.
