This photobook is full of deep stuff. Looks like the members got pretty emotional with this release.
Here's Yamada's interview :3
NYC Photobook “COLORS” Individual Member Interview
Yamada Ryosuke:
►Talk about yourself during the beginning of the group’s formation
The first time I heard talks about it all I really said “heh, so we’re doing it”. I had really light feelings about it. In relation to NYC “If you noticed” is the key word (laughs). It might have felt like it was another person’s affair. In relation to songs, doesn’t NYC have a lot of super super cutesy songs? I was in the age where I wanted to be cool (laughs) I’d think “Why are we doing these kinds of songs?”. Chinen was fine…because it suited him (laughs) For myself, personally that was how I felt. I felt like we were simply running above the rail of adult hood…that kind of feeling. But now, I think that it’s one of NYC’s virtues. I can do cool songs with JUMP can’t I? Above that, NYC songs make little kid’s eyes sparkle, it seems like they really enjoy them.
At that time, the JUMP members would honestly ask me, “What do you think about NYC?”. They got interested in it. That’s why for one reason or another, “I have no choice feeling” ended up coming out. But the members wouldn’t criticize me about it more like they gave me more strength to cooperate. Even during the times when NYC would have its own corner in JUMP concerts, they’d dance behind us in high spirits. I felt really thankful for everyone’s warmth. The times I’m going solo , the times I’m doing things with NYC or JUMP, for every single one it’s become a plus….or so I’ve grow to think now. Also, with all of these experiences that have been piling up with NYC and JUMP, the love for each group is growing incredibly.
►It’s the 4th year since the formation. What do you think about yourself now?
I talked about this earlier but, I think NYC is a passive group. If we get something to do we perform it with all of our strength…that kind of style. Now I think that we have to treasure our own will more. If that happens then we don’t have to carry more responsibility, all 3 of us have decided on that resolution.
Then, this time, I’m really happy that NYC got to do a photo book like this. I listened to the concept and we got to show different kinds of NYC that we usually don’t display. Although there’s been a lot of thoughts that our image is “cute”, we’re the kind of group that carries a part that says that it’s not the only part we have. This is the first time I’ve ever spoken so deeply about NYC. I also think that I have different types of fan girls. I wonder if there are people that think “I like NYC’s Yamada”, “I like JUMP’s Yamada” or “Anyways, I like Yamada” (laughs) There’s definitely something that makes NYC and JUMP different. Have fun while finding that difference and no matter what type of person you are, I’d be happy if you grew to feel “The Yamada that’s in NYC is nice”.
►Talk about yourself when you’re with NYC
Before, I used to think that when I was with JUMP, I felt at ease rather than when I was with NYC I felt like I had to keep my cool and I had tense feelings towards that. Recently though, no matter what group I’m with I feel that “I have to keep my cool” mode go on. But, with NYC that feeling is stronger (laughs) For example, when the staff’s opinions pile up and they tell me, or when I have to reply as the representative, there are a lot of things I do.
Also, because I’m together with Chinen even in JUMP, when I’m with NYC I try to talk to Yuma as much as possible. There’s quite a lot of things that we can get fired up to when we talk. First of all, Chinen is not that type of person (laughs) But, in general, because Chinen and I often think the same way it ends up going “Then, isn’t that fine?” “OK!”. So our conversations turn out to be really short when they end.
►And so, talk about the NYC from now on
As for NYC’s “from now on” there are a lot of things we can count on. It’s been a while since we got together and because we don’t have a lot of stage experience as NYC that part is still yet to come. Our experiences a group have piled up and our bonds and mutual trust have deepened. Also, I want to know everyone know about Yuma’s charm. Even if he’s in the middle of a tough position, he’s always managed to do his best and remain cheerful, he has a sense for laughter and even for complaints, he never talks badly about others. Even now, I’ve never heard anything bad be said about Yuma. Truthfully, typical of me, I want NYC to head in the direction of being more active in variety…or so that’s what I aspire to do. I definitely think Yuma will become our weapon. For sure, just as I said, our opinions and will, from now on, will increase. I think it’d be great if we could show you all how NYC will evolve.
