i'm moved into my orange upstairs bedroom. eli found a mattress while he was riding his bike this morning, so we went and picked it up. now i have a mattress instead of a sleeping bag. it's a large mattress. my bedroom is now officially a harem.... that's how large the mattress is.
i'm a member of the people's food co-op. i volunteer there and get 15% off purchases and free food items and free yoga lessons and i'm invited to go beer tasting and gardening with everyone else there. i'm also volunteering at a local herb shop and in return, i get free herbology lessons.
i ride my bicycle every day everywhere. it's an old man's bicycle. i'm just missing the wicker basket.
i'm living in the southeast neighborhood right off of belmont. this is the hippy-er side of town. it's not as overwhelming as downtown. everyone here is extremely friendly. my house has a garden that needs some work. i'm getting the compost back together as well. everything in the house is environmentally friendly for the most part, including the washer machine and dryer.
i have a job lined up working in a microbiology lab downtown, which is a fast bike ride because it's all downhill and across the bridge! i'll probably take the bus back home. or i might just ride back uphill depending on my day.
in my spare time, i've been impressing my roommates with fancy meals and random scientific facts. i like them SO much. i'm living with two girls and one guy: liz, michele, and eli. we have movie nights on tuesday where eli hooks his computer up to a projector and we watch them on a sheet hanging up in the living room. we'll go to the park and read and ride bicycles and drink beer together. liz is a scientist as well who's interested in everything. we're making our own beer - a porter. michele is a musician and plays the keyboard. eli is just amazing. i like these kids so much.
i've started making my own yogurt and kombucha. i made some shaving cream for eli and i this morning. i'm almost done knitting my beer cozy. the other night we had a hot tub party. i learned how to play dice and now i'm addicted. we drink coffee every morning and hang out. and potlucks are abound.
i want to have a picnic. the strip clubs here aren't that impressive. the guys are gross and full of muscles and apparently have balls of steal.
"please don't flow so fast you little mountain din, i'll bottle piano sounds from you, i'll bite your tongue, i will bake bread"
