trying to embrace the tight pants

Jun 15, 2008 10:44

life this week has been quite interesting. it looks like i'm going to have to embrace the tight pants if i want to live here another 5 years... i'm sitting at this coffee shop with photographs of bicycles everywhere. there are a lot of coffee shops that roast their own beans here.

caleb made me a cd that i've been kind of obsessed with. thank you, sir.

kate, you were a wonderful hostess. we should play drunk mexican bingo more often.

i won't find out if i have this job as a research assistant at OHSU until the end of next week. i'm kind of stressed about the possibility of being unemployed for longer than what i anticipated. you'd think that a bachelor's degree would open the window for a bountiful list of job opportunities.

i went to the blow's last performance. khaela told us that she would never perform those songs again. it's kind of upsetting, but she wants to sing about things not as big as the universe and the void and not as little as a telephone. she explained every song before she sang it. it was kind of amazing and sad. she even channeled the spirit of a gay male dancer at one point during the night.

i've made quite a few friends. some only superficial, some a little deeper, and one intimately. he's vegan but not he pretentious kind.. plus he eats fish. he went to berkeley for music and now he works in retail. he likes to grow things.

i have never felt so inferior before. even when nicholas and i were dating. everyone here just amazes me and i'm trying my best not to implode. i'm SO awkward. lucky for me, so is everyone else. this city is just a big mess of interesting, awkward, environmentally conscious, loving.caring.compassionate, good people.

do you ever wish you had a prosthetic leg? sometimes, i do.
