1. She does not want anyone in Grythen to know of her background. (Did-You-Realise #94367: Everyone, except for her doctor who had her records, called her Mistress Mejaine instead of Mistress Stonefield.)
2. Being the youngest daughter of a baker, she had a lot of attention from her parents and four elder brothers. They all doted on her.
3. Her family was neither rich nor poor (relative to the rest of the villagers). They could afford the basic necessities and some treats from time to time, but not everything she wanted and certainly not the big ticket items.
4. She first met Zaelem at their village’s annual carnival, where her light feet captivated everyone. (They lived at opposite ends, hence never met until then.) A couple of boys were interested in her, but only Zaelem dared to make a move and that was probably what attracted her to him.
5. She grew up with praises from all the villagers about what a fine dancer she was and she would gladly perform for them. It was only when she came to Grythen that she realised what a mediocre dancer she really was. It hit her hard, but it also spurred her to become the best there.
6. She had her age-pausing spell casted the moment she settled down in Grythen. It was illegal as she was only 21 years old, underage. (She is 4 years younger than Zaelem, but had her age-pausing spell casted before Zaelem did. ( Chapter 31))
7. She bears grudges. She’ll definitely remember it if you owe her something, even if she can no longer recall what that something was.
8. She doesn’t like flowers or soft toys. She thinks they are for stupid little girls who can’t tell the difference between superficial appeal and true worth. Jewellery, on the other hand … *wink wink*
9. Deep in her heart, she has known all along that she can never love a person as much as she loved money. And spending money.
10. She believes in “no pain, no gain”. Sometimes, you just have to choose to let go of some things to gain other things. All you can do is pray hard that that is the right decision.
