wireless internet

so i followed all of the instructions the quick guide thingy told me to, and i'm actually "connected" according to the icons in the corner... so why can't i get any webpages off of my own encrypter net and thus have to just go "arrrrgh!" and then mooch internet off the random unencrypted guy in the complex in order to ACTUALLY have internet?!?!?!?!?!

moral of the story: when you're wireless, sometimes you're really just not connected.
