(no subject)
So there are alot of new albums coming out soon and I hope it is worth getting excited about. I think Tori's is, from what I have heard so far. Seems like it rocks harder than her past few, and that is what we need at this point. I really like Scarlet's Walk and The Beekeeper but I don't know if I would be able to take another one in the same vein. I think the whole idea of American Doll Posse is pretty cool. Some people don't like it when musicians get political but the way I see it, how could they not when politics play such an important role in everyone's lives righ now. I am all into it, and can't wait to hear all the new songs. I am not so into the whole "blog hunt" thing though. I may have been more into the idea in high school but my life is just too busy to be seeking out all these blogs of all the different characters on the album. It's an interesting idea. I have found 4 so far, and then I heard that some of them are fakes, and one of the ones I found out about was confirmed fake, so now I know about 3 of them that seem to be for real. Even still, I have read them and it's like there is nothing that is giving clues about the album or anything, it is all mildly entertaining but whatever, it's a more creative marketing scheme than I have seen in a long time. She is touring Europe first, and I hope when she comes around here I can get front row seats because in the 10 years that I have been going to her concerts, it has never happened! This time I am determined. I was hoping she would be playing in Austria at the same time I am going to be there, but no such luck. I am just so excited for May 1!!!
Also, Rasputina has a new album out in June, I am also very excited for this. I know it is always worht looking forward too, plus they will be on tour again. I think it's great that they don't have such a huge following that they have to play huge venues. Both times I have seen them has been at the Ottobar, and it was amazing. After the show, the band members are just hanging around and you can talk to them. It's awesome. I miss that about Tori. Seeing her at the 9:30 Club was one of the coolest shows of hers. I also recently found out that Bjork is coming out with a new album on May 8th, and I am hoping it kicks more ass than her previous two. I really kinda like Vespertine for driving around at night and whatever goes along with it, but I am hoping her new album, Volta, has a little more of the Bjork elements we love. I read an interview where she was talking about it a little and it seems like there is going to be much more of that playful element back for Volta. I am hoping the NIN album is good too! I am just really excited when so many bands I like come out with new music around the same time. That happened in 2005 also. I think that was a really amazing year for alot of music. Garbage's was probably my favourite.
Speaking of music, I have been working on alot of stuff with Orbeck these days and we are hitting the open mic circuit. Hey it's a start! Anyway it's been pretty fun so far. I am ready to record some stuff, maybe we can put it up online pretty soon. One day we need to have a drummer. Michael is moving back from Philly next week and I am very excited about this. We are going have a band called Shadow Lane, and it will be like Garbage meets Fleetwood Mac hahaha! I think it will be pretty fun. Just the fact that he will be back in the area will be pretty awesome! I am really looking forward to the semester being over!! I mean, it's not that bad but I am so ready to not have to focus on school stuff for a few months. Then if all goes accordingly, I will finally graduate in December! You know that is gonna be a big party =)
I am just really hungry right now, and I am hoping there is going to be something delicious when I go check what's there!
