In case you were wondering what would happen to all the rats in the NYC sewers... wonder no longer. Ew?

I defy any sports fan to read this article about a tragedy-plagued high school baseball team in western Maryland without crying. FNL fans, I think, will find it particularly compelling.

Harper's has an interesting history of the game Monopoly.

Alyssa Rosenberg has a great video here about the fight for reproductive justice, and some smart thoughts, too.

Alyssa Rosenberg has become one of my favorite bloggers, because it's not often you find someone who can rant about feminism in politics and pop culture, and then turn on a dime and show off how much she knows about the Star Wars Extended Universe. (I remember reading the Thrawn Trilogy when it came out: it was one of the few media tie-ins you could admit to reading without mockery, unlike all the Trek novels. Dunno why, it was just more acceptable. The NYT bestseller list might have had something to do with it, IIRC...)

I don't play games online, but
yhlee has published a game, and I might have to try it out. It sounds cool, anyway: A winter-locked city. Cold guns. Starship carcasses. And now, you. Cool, right?

We have a big staff meeting tomorrow, and aside from it (1) overlapping with some web-based training I'm signed up for; and (2) being located rather inconveniently offsite; it also (3) involves a costume contest. I am not dressing up. For one thing, I'm crap at costumes. For another, I'm dog-sitting, and rather short on clothes as it is. ...I suppose I could show up as a dogwalker?
