Project management is hard

Aug 31, 2006 01:31

One of my biggest projects recently has been TracForge, a set of plugins to the Trac project managment system that adds support for working with multiple projects. The more I work on it the more I realize how complex GForge (the current leader for large-scale project hosting) is. This doesn't change the fact that GForge is a piece of garbage (a rant for another day), but I can see what few people have put the time in to make good workalike systems. I have msot of the core stuff up and running, though I am concerned about how stable it will be under heavy load mostly because of the ever present risk of file deadlocking. The problem is that this is hard to test without deploying TracForge on a high-traffic site, and crossing your fingers. Maybe I can convince the CS department to let me use their systems to DDoS myself?
