After hearing so much hype about Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series, I figured I'd use part of my holiday break to indulge my curiosity and see what all the fuss was about. I still have no idea why people like these books.

I'm not sure what to say about Octavia Butler's Fledgling. It, like her other novels, is about physical difference (vampires, in this case, and genetic experimentation), race, and power relations. It is a well-told and interesting story. I never got bored while reading it, and I really wanted to finish it and find out what happens ( Read more... )
