CoffeeHaus

I'm sitting at the CoffeeHaus down the street from my house, trying to grade papers. I guess I'm making decent progress, but I keep being distracted. It's too cold to grade at home and too messy to grade in my office, so this may be my best bet, but, although it's pretty empty on a Monday afternoon here, there are still people around having conversations that I am mentally drawn into.

On one side of the room are two men talking about teaching and Bible study. I'm not sure if the two threads are related to each other, but both are interesting to me. Apparently, one man is reading the entire Bible. He's made it to the book of Judges.

Over by the window, a guy is eating a late lunch and talking to the girl who works here. He will graduate from UTA in the spring of 2008 and doesn't really know what he wants to do after that. She will graduate in about a year and wants badly to go to seminary, but she is hesitant because of the kinds of jobs available to women within ministry. She does NOT want to do children's ministry. She does NOT want to do women's ministry.

People are interesting sometimes. Of course, I think these conversations are only interesting to me because I have no obligation to pay attention. I can stop listening at any time and grade or look at stuff online or write about their silly little conversations.
