Duke University is watering astroturf
Ok, so let's get this straight. Durham, NC, where I live, has about 69 days of water left if we don't get any more rain. And yet, Duke University is using their water to water astroturf!!!! WTF? How stupid are these people at Duke? They claim it's because the field hockey rules require it. Well, I say they should tell the International Hockey Federation to stuff it.
This is beyond ridiculous. They claim "We made a commitment that we would not water at our homes [...] We're very empathetic to the needs of the community." EMPATHETIC?!? ARE YOU INSANE? That is the most LUDICROUS thing I've ever heard.
I call upon the city leaders in Durham to immediately pull the "business exemption" they've granted Duke that allows them to do this. With just over 2 months of water left, there is no time left for shenanigans like this.
