I want to keep Australian Native Bees as pets. They're adoreable :)
At least, these species are:
Great Carpenter Bee (left) is the largest bee in Australia (but not the world) at 1.9 - 2.5 cms long with a wingspan up to 5 cms. I assume the Green Carpenter Bee (right) is about the same size. Fun fact: we (Australia) have the heaviest cockroach in the world (Giant Burrowing cockroach - is also kinda cute in a giant insect way - at 30 grams) and the world's loudest insect (Double Drummer Cicada, also our largest Cicada.)
But the point to this post, was that there was some documentary on tv and it got me Googleing Australian Native Bees. And I found the most adorable species of bee ever. I want to own it.
Yep, it's called the Teddy Bear Bee XD
btw, most Australian Native Bees are solitary. That means that the nasty introduced honey bees which have escaped and gone feral are out-competing them for food :(
I'm not normally into bees or insects, that guy is just too cute though. Of course, my mum seems to think it's horrible, so I reckon there'll be a percentage of people who see this post and don't go awwwwwwwww.
