Married, Single, Other. Premiered last night.
It's a tv show. A six-part English mini-series. It's supposed to be a comedy. Well comedy/drama. That one bit, on the stairs, near the end. He's my favorite character so far too. It was so sweet. It was only the first episode last night, and already they had me caring about this guy so much that I cried then. Just a few tears, but it was crying. That's what makes good television.
This show which shares similarities in concept to Rules of Engagement just kicked that show out the door and down the hallway in terms of pure heartwarming television, real characters, and bits that make you cry like you know the people. That is the difference between American television and other countries. Americans do entertainment really well. They've got that covered. Everything is larger than life, entertaining, unrealistic, and untouchable. Which is fine for some light entertainment. England have the real thing covered. You'd beleive the characters in most English dramas just live down the street, like everyone else.
Of course, this is just generalizations. There is heartwarming American television, and larger than life English television. I'm just talking generally. If you haven't seen Married, Single, Other or Rules of Engagement another good example of this is Love, Actually vs Valentines Day.
