Last night we had dinner at the in-laws. Charlie's younger brother, Matt, is moving his family back to Atlanta, GA for a job opportunity.
When they left, I had to make a joke about moving back to the dang south might as well be like moving to a deserted island... which turned Matt red... but I mostly did it to keep myself from crying.
Not that I'm really close to them, but they are dear family. And now our kids won't get to grow up together. Mary's 10 going on 18, Sophie's 4 - just a year and some days older than Lila, and we'll miss Will's first birthday on December 4th. We, especially Charlie, were so excited when they moved back home, to have the cousins growing up together, to have those great experiences. And now, they're going away again.
"It's not like we're moving to a deserted island or something," says Matt. Might as well be, says me. Freakin' South.
I teared up as I hugged each of the kids. I'm not beloved Auntie Carin, but I love them. Sophie and Will are my godkids and Lila so loves playing with Sophie. I was looking forward to Mason playing with Will, too.
Kendall told Lila they were moving to Georgia. Lila said, "Oh. I don't know him."
Me either, Lila.
