Looks like you can make a post now via LJ's new Jabber service. Adium 1.0 beta now has LJ as a addable service, but they don't have service icons. So I made icons and in the process of submitting a patch to throw them in. I think this will be the first time I've actually submitted code/files to an OSS project.
