Today was Mom's Birthday.  To celebrate I made her a cake.  It is a white cake/devils food checkerboard cake.  I also used fondant for the first time.  All in all...I'm very pleased with the results.   I have noted things I need to do differently next time but hey...that's all part of the learning process.  Oh..and I colored some left over fondant ( Read more... )

I'm at the gift shop about to fall asleep on my feet. Other than the obvious, this isn't good b/c I still have homework to do. I've managed to get out of reading in class two days in a row. The doctor's office called yesterday with the date for mom's first hip surgery. She'll have her right hip operated on first on Jan 9th then, depending on how things go, six weeks later they'll operate on her left hip. The end is in sight!

Mom had an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon today (Dr. Daboo, which always makes me think of Star Wars because it sounds like Naboo). She has no cartilage in her right hip, it's bone on bone. Her left hip, which also hurt but she thought was b/c of her right hip, is almost as bad. Dr. Daboo said it's simply a matter of sooner or later. She ( Read more... )

Today is my mom's 40-13th birthday. Dad and I got her an Ipod nano. had some difficulty figuring out how to get songs onto the ipod since the "instruction booklet" wasn't very detailed. I think we've got it now though and Mom has promised to share it.

So Cedarville U. made a deal with Young's that they would sell some coupons to kids and parents for one of their summer session things.  Each coupon was sold for $2 and they could get various things for them.  I don't know the details of the deal but it was the reason we had so many people there on a thursday night.  With so many people there, all ( Read more... )
