no camping this year

this is saddening. my family always goes camping for memorial day weekend. well, we did always go camping. we are not this year. in fact, we may be selling the pop-up. mom can't physically handle camping anymore. she needs vacations, not camping. it's understandable, and we are not selling the tent, but the pop-up is going, as will be the van. when the family does a camping-type outing, there will be a rented (small) motor-home, enough to sleep 3, maybe 4. if i come along, i bring my tent. sorry, family, but motor homes are not camping. that's vacationing. not that it's a bad thing, it certainly has it's time and place, but i'm still young enough to want to camp. and my back, as messed up as it is, prefers sleeping on the floor of the tent with a little thin thing of padding to sleeping on the beds in the rpi dorms. even with rocks and roots making ridged in the "mattress", the ground is at least hard enough for my preferences.

anyway, yeah, this year memorial day = no camping for the first time since i was about 8. very sad. i wanted to camp. you know, i could still camp in the backyard for the weekend. but with no firepit and no companionship, there's really no point.

when i have a family of my own, we are going camping.

family, camping, future
