Though tomorrow is technically part of it, too.
So we headed out on Friday, made decent time getting down to Columbus and managed not to be pulled over by the legion of police cars out and about. I love how the rest areas have free coffee and such on holiday weekends - always some charity group, with coffee and other stuff available, no charge but they take donations. So we donate, of course. This trip, we got a volunteer fire department on the way down, and a diabetes research group on the way back.
Got in and watched some Stargate and talked with Chris & Becky. Saturday, we got up late, had brunch, and went to Half-Price Books. I'm kind of glad they don't have one of those up here. They're dangerous. And fun! We got some great stuff, of course, but it's not like we have enough space for the books we've already got!
Then we came back and Chris went over my computer. I've been having issues. Mostly laggy issues. He figures it's a Norton patch - other people have had similar problems. So he went through everything else carefully, and then yanked Norton, so I could reinstall it when I got home, and hopefully the problem will be out of the system.
Then we went off to Scotty's birthday party. It was held at a pub, and we had to pass through OSU area on a game night, about the time the game was getting out. So we anticipated much trouble with traffic. As it turned out, our route avoided the worst of it, so we were early. The pub grub was tasty, Scotty got stuck with an obnoxious birthday hat, and all was good. Except for the requisite obnoxious drunk. But as obnoxious drunks go, he wasn't bad. Just loud and annoying. We went off to a bar but that was waaaaaaaaaaaaay too loud and not the right crowd, so we wound up at a BW3. Nice again, but we still wound up at a long table, so I never got to really talk to half the people there. That's the frustration of long skinny tables. I really should do what Keira does and just grab a chair and bounce around from place to place.
This morning, we got up and went to Bob Evans for breakfast. Chris had to go off to work, and the rest of us lounged around the place reading, snoozing and petting the dogs. I like having friends that I'm close enough to and comfortable enough with that we can just sit around reading and don't feel the need to be entertaining each other. It would have been more fun if I'd been reading something other than "Understanding Minimalism", though! But I needed to get that reading done rather than the fun reading!
Then we went over to Jim's mom's, talked with her for a while, and got some goodies from the garden. Including a humongous tomato. I really should get a pic of the tomato before we eat it!
The drive back was fine. Lots of cops out again. I'm sure they're out heavily all weekend.
Reinstalled Norton. It seems to not be being as bad as it was, but the jury's still out, since it's still scanning and such. Yeesh.
Jim works tomorrow. He's going to drop me off at Jo-Ann's for their labor day sale, and I'm going to walk back, since the buses don't run on labor day. It should be a nice walk back, but I can only buy as much as I can carry!
