Something about Final Crisis worries me now.

There is this new interview with Grant Morrison. Well, and he talks about Final Crisis, mostly things we already heard and then there is this...

"Supergirl and Mary Marvel are in it. They have a big climatic battle to decide how femininity should be portrayed in superhero comics!"

OH MORRISON, NO! That's like having a fight between Mandingo and the ( Read more... )

You know who should be in it? Sharky the Shark Pimp.

One of these days the police will find your dead body in your house. Every wall will have something scribbled with magic marker on it. Poems written in unknown languages, essays about organs no human has, blueprints for spaceships, detailed maps for islands that sank ages ago, reviews of movies nobody has made. The police will ask "Who the hell was this guy?" and somebody will just go "Huh... that kinda sounds like radiumhead."

Sharky may be obscure, but he is real. He had a few short films in Spike & Mike's Twisted Animation festival, many of which are on dvd, and netflix.

He is a shark puppet that is also a pimp.

"The only person on Earth who's aware of what's happening is Mister Miracle. He's encountered the evil gods before but nobody listens to him because he's a mad, show biz escape artist, who claims he was abducted by Metron."

Since when? Last I knew, Scott Free was a fairly respected member of the superhero community. All right, yes, he was part of the JLI, but if the Creeper can be seen as a "real" cape, then so can Scott. And considering his wife was one of the Birds of Prey, you know he's got at least the Bat-family's respect.

In his first major tease, Morrison said, "Batman isn't coming back from it. Batman, as we know him, is not coming back from it."

I call bullshit on this. Less than a year ago, it came out that Morrison's plans to kill off Bruce Wayne and have Tim take over the Batman role were vetoed by Time Warner management, who feel that Warner Bros. has too big a stake in Batman being Bruce Wayne to permit a change there.

"So I thought if I was doing a thing about the New Gods, he'd be an interesting guy to bring ( ... )

Didn't know about the new Mr. Miracle; last I knew, Scott Free was about the only person to escape DotNG so far ( ... )

You are mostly right. And no fucking way is DC going to let anyone kill Bruce wayne off, unless they do it planning to bring him right back, like they did with Superman.

But Darkseid isn't like some cat burglar, i think he could get around the heroes security systems and secret identities-especially when he has gotten a huge power upgrade, and he was already a god as it is.

Well I completely agree with you regarding Supergirl v Mary Marvel. Personally I want Mary Marvel to win. Insane changes of mood can at least be more fun to read of characters instead of bland and insipid.

And put down that whiskey, you're not 21!

Make me put it down! MAKE ME! *smashes the bottle against the wall* Come here and I'll shiv you with this broken glass and... OH SHIT I BROKE MY BOTTLE! My whiskey... my precious whiskey. Crap, and the hobo that buys it for me had another of his Vietnam episodes and ran away again.

Darn.

Wait, this guy apparently can't write women (given that he thinks Mary Marvel & Supertorso are the two poles, wtf)--& you want him to write you?

Hon, you should be relieved!

I don't think he'll write the bad version of Supergirl, mostly because he usually never cares how other writers handle characters. Which in this case sounds great. And I liked how he wrote Bulleteer and Dorothy Spinner, so yeah, I trust the bald bastard.

Yeah, Dorothy Spinner was OK. I thought of that as I composed the post. But when has Grant written a female character outside of Doom Patrol? At all? I mean, would he have added a character like Dorothy if she hadn't already existed?

Well, he has written Zatanna, Bulleteer and I can't believe I forgot Shining Knight. I loved Shining Knight! I liked his take on Invisible Woman on FF1234 too.

He mostly writes guys, but he doesn't do bad with gals when he does.
