Pick yourself up, dust yourself, start all over again

I was laid off at 10 am today. I had brought my car in, the check engine light had gone off, had a date in the afternoon, and was told, get your stuff. Not in a mean way, not in a bad way, just that I was one of ten people to meet at 30% reduction in budget.
It would've been nice to have some warning at the staff meeting last Thursday, so that I could at least scan the Sunday papers for job ads. As it is, I was taken by surprise, but I have an awesome network that is already working for me.
I have enough in savings that I don't have to worry for a while, but I don't want to spend my days sitting around. We'll have to see, maybe I'll take a trip to San Francisco to visit a friend for a bit.
On the good side, the date was fun, even with the layoff I held an interesting conversation about music, movies, travel. It was about 2 hours, he was a nice guy.
I'm glad I still have the mystery shopping. I'm going to see Travis (British band) on Sunday for free, yay, and will have dinner at House of Blues later this month.
Right now, it's tough. But it will get better.

layoff, work, dating
