Don't tell mom the babysitter is gay!

I worry that you'll work in an office, have children, celebrate wedding anniversaries. The world of the heterosexual is a sick and boring life - Aunt Ida from Female Trouble.

Tonight I ended up back in my old high school. My sister and her friend went out for a spa date tonight to redeem my sister's birthday gift. She asked me last week if I could drop off her son for Freshman football practice today at 5 p.m. so she could go. I said sure I can drop him off.

In the end I did a little more than just drop him off and see him go through the door. To make a long story short, I had to drop him off at 4:30 p.m. for weight training, attend a Boosters meeting in the library at 6 p.m., stick around until 8 p.m. when he was done, feed him and drop him off at home.

The meeting had a whopping 12 people in it. No I did not volunteer to make snack bags for the team or work the concession stand. Do these people not understand begging doesn't work with me. I have never been with a woman, have no children and other than masturbating to pictures of Jerome Bettis shirtless I don't get too excited about football. lol

I went out to my car when the meeting was over and watched the band practice. I spent 4 years on this parking lot and during the summer it was every Tuesday and Thursday evening. It is an interesting year. The old band director retired after 50 years. The band has shrunk dramatically from when I was in the band. This year the regional school district my high school belongs to opened another school to reduce overcrowding. This would be the third high school the district opened since 1982. It took a terrible toll on the band.

Back in the 70's and 80's we had almost 100 playing members and 75 band front members.

Tonight I counted 36 total members.

It was weird and more than a little emotional visiting the school tonight. Walking past my old locker across from the libary. Sitting in the libary which is set up exactly as it was 30 years ago. Walking the same route from the school to the parking lot I walked for band practice.

It was very much a Midnight in Paris kind of a feeling.

Nostalgia is denial - denial of the painful present... the name for this denial is golden age thinking - the erroneous notion that a different time period is better than the one ones living in - its a flaw in the romantic imagination of those people who find it difficult to cope with the present. - Paul, Midnight in Paris

This has been a very dark summer for me mentally. I miss my life in California terribly. But I know I am working my plan to enable me to go back there eventually. Not tomorrow but someday.
