Busy busy weekend

I had a ton of work to do this weekend. I wouldn't say I goofed off earlier in the week when I was scheduled to do it. I have been in a dark place for about three weeks. It is a family problem and me staying up all night working before I had to drive my sister and mother to Philadelphia was a definite trigger. If I don't get at least 6 hours of sleep a night things start to get out of wack in the old nogin.

So I would sleep off and on for a few hours here and there during the day, sometimes on the couch which is another trigger and this created a bad couple weeks of not showering and shaving daily. When you live alone, have food in the house and work a schedule you make up yourself, you can quickly find that you have been in your house for three days.

But the darkness seems to be leaving which is a good thing. I find that staying busy helps keep the darkness at bay.

My grandmother has been battling her tv. There was some static every hour and that just didn't work for her while watching MATLOCK!!! or the Phillies. So my brother brought a tv from the Cape May cabin and I programmed the cable remote so that she only needs the one to change the channels, adjust the volume and turn the damn thing on and off. Then I adjusted the color and brightness like I was an eye doctor. Which is better grandmother? one or two? Everything is acceptable for now but tomorrow is another day. She provided me with her latest grocery list for me to purchase tomorrow and Tuesday. And so we kick off the week!

I finished my mother's taxes after I delivered some grocery items she needed that I picked up Friday while working. I am in the grocery store 3 or 4 times a week and she hates shopping so it works out. We needed a tax ID for some $3,500 electronic reader she donated to the school my brother is Vice Principal to and my brother finally got me the info. My stepfather bought it before he completely lost his sight. Then I filed her Homestead tax rebate so she didn't wait until the last day of October for me to help with it.

Then I fixed my mother's remote for her living room tv so that she is only using one remote too. I took the other three remotes and hid them in the house.

Sister Kimberly heads out to Hawaii to spend the rest of the month at her condo she bought this year on the big island. Her husband is only going for a week.

My mother asked me tonight if I thought it was a good idea to rent a house somewhere for Thanksgiving weekend for the family. I asked her if she had been recently smoking crack. Scheduling my family together for the holiday weekend with all the other activities different family members do that weekend just wouldn't work out. Best not to try to climb that hill I said.

A friend called this afternoon from California saying he had a 102 degree fever and had been urinating blood and asked if he should go to the hospital. He asked his mother to take him and she said no. She told him she had to go to Wal Mart. He is still there hooked up to an IV and they gave him some Morphine. They said they think it is a kidney infection. I also think he has diabetes. He has always been a frequent urinator and drinks heavily daily. We shall see what happens.

We are definitely in the dog days of summer here in Southern New Jersey. Very humid, temps in the 90's and no wind. You can see some wild flowers and plants that have run their cycle for the year. With it being so dry we can expect an early change of the leaves this year.

Time for sleep. Monday and Tuesday will be very busy days for me. I have to get my work done so I can head to Motor Vehicles Wednesday and change my license back to NJ. As much as I miss California and want to return it just isn't in the cards this year.
