Here's what my dad sent me in an email:
Well, I ordered my digital mixer and Mac computer for the studio.
The mixing board is a Tascam DM3200 digital with the optional meter bridge. It's 24 channel 16 buss mixer with 16 mic inputs (with expansion for 24 inputs) and it also has digital in/out and USB and Firewire connections. It has 24 motorized faders, 4 band fully parametric (sweepable frequency) equalization and dynamic processing on each channel. The board also controls the software in the computer (DAW) so you don't need to use the mouse all of the time, 24 bit 96Khz recording with all 24 tracks in record @ one time, a talk back mic. to the studio, controls and outputs for control room monitor speakers, studio monitor speakers and dual headphone outputs, bla, bla bla... I've ordered a custom made "OMNIRAX" console for the mixer that is also setup for the computer and computer monitor.
The computer is a "Mac Pro", Dual Core with dual 2.66 GHZ processors, 4 gig of memory (expandable to 16 gig), dual SATA hard drives, a 250 gig hard drive for the OS and a 500 gig hard drive for programs/data. It has the newest Mac operating system (Leopold I think it's called), a 16X "Superdrive DVD recording deck, Blue Tooth with wireless keyboard/mouse and I will be running Apple newest, Logic Pro 8 recording software.
It should be a sweet setup. Now to finish terminating the wiring and installing the acoustic treatments!
