Julian Evan Bodenschatz was born on August 20, 2006 at 12:07pm. He weighed 10lbs 14oz and was 21 inches long. Labor and delivery were a breeze. I had no idea he was so big until they weighed him. Only one tear, which was just a re-tear from a scar I had from Gabe. I didn't have to have an episiotomy either. I feel great. He's nursing like a champ. ( Read more... )

It's 4:45am and I think we're heading to the hospital in a few minutes. My contractions are really painful and are about 4 minutes apart. I don't know if anything will happen or not, but I'll update when I know something. Pretty sure this is it though.

I've been walking around at 5cm and 80% effaced. I wonder when this little guy is going to make his appearance. :p He'll come when he's ready. What's the big rush? They act like I've got something wrong with me for having my own opinion and wanting things done as naturally as possible. Oh well. :D ( Read more... )

At my Tuesday appointment I was 4cm dilated and 80% effaced. They didn't want to let me go home because my blood pressure was high, and were trying to get me to let them strip my membranes. Stripping the membranes is when the doctor inserts their fingers between the amniotic sac and your uterine wall and breaks the adhesion between them. Yeah, ow. ( Read more... )

I went for my 36 week appointment today. The doctor checked my cervix and said "Whoa!" and asked me how far away from the hospital I lived. I said just a couple of miles and he said good, because I'm 3cm dilated and 50% effaced and Julian's head is nice and low. So basically anytime now. July 31 is my last scheduled day of work unless I deliver before then. I'll go back to work 8 weeks after delivery, assuming there aren't any medical reasons that keep me from doing so.
