I just bought myself a pretty expensive, pretty special birthday present. I'll be getting it a little early, but hopefully, it'll all be worth it.
On the 27th of April, I will be boarding a southbound bus in the morning. Once I arrive in Seattle, I'll check into a hotel. From there, I'll have a good afternoon to wander around. Make a pilgrimage to Scarecrow Video, eat at Jack in the Box, maybe do something touristy like Pike Place Market or Seattle Centre. Depending on the dollar, I may even visit the Fantagraphics store. That night, I'll be jamming earplugs in my ears and seeing My Bloody Valentine on their reunion tour, something I never thought I'd have the chance to do. Afterwards, I'll go back to the hotel and watch HBO until I fall asleep. And I'd better fall asleep quickly, if only because I'm getting up extra-early to take the train back to Vancouver. I suppose I could have spent the morning and early afternoon in Seattle and taken the bus back, but the chance to travel by train was just too awesome to pass up.
And that's it. That's my big getaway. I'm not even spending a day in my destination and I'll probably only be away from my home for 27 hours, but those are pointless details in comparison to having what's left of my hearing destroyed by My Bloody Valentine. Oh, yes.
