Drabble: Presents (Buffy/Spike)
Another drabble for joy! We are extending the joy, here, because I obviously did not get all of them done yesterday. :-) These are going to be out of order, as well.

Notes: This is a triple drabble that takes place post-Potential
"Hey, you busy?"
Spike glances around the empty basement. "Think I could spare a moment." Duh, Buffy. She sits down next to him on the cot, and he shifts to give her room, the chains around his wrists rattling. "'Sides, I'm a captive audience," he says, with a ghost of a smile.
"I told you, you really don't have to wear those."
"Beg to differ."
She sighs and lets it go. "So, Dawn's birthday is coming up, and I need some help with the planning."
"And I'm the first one came to mind? Nest full of birds up there," he says, inclining his head in the direction of the stairs.
"Yeah, but they don't really know her..."
"Not sure I do either, anymore." She can see the regret in his eyes.
Maybe this was a mistake, but she forges on. "I mean, she's turning sixteen. I want it to be special. Or at least, not so much with the world endage like mine tend to be."
His mouth quirks at the corners as he tries to hide a smile. "Understood. What did you have in mind?"
"Well, I can't really throw a party unless I want all the guests to sign a release form. And I have less than no money..."
Spike is already shaking his head. "The girl doesn't want a party or expensive presents, Buffy. All she wants is you."
"Me?"
"Yes, you. Your time. Your attention. Spend the day with her. The Niblet won't care if it's at the mall or the cemetery, s'long as she's with you."
"That's..." Her eyes sting a little as she realizes the truth of it. "That's perfect, Spike."
She stands up to leave, but looks back over her shoulder before she heads up the stairs. "See, you know her. You do."
