The Good:
-The weather: touch wood, but it's been really nice since I got here (only about half a day of rain). Mostly it's either sunny and clear or kind of cloudy, but with the sun around.
-The BUNAC office: Sarah, who runs the office, is really nice and helpful. The office itself has free internet (one computer shared by everyone) and lots of postings and info.
-The prospects: I'm planning on taking the Literary Pub Tour one of these evenings; I'm actively trying to find a place to live in the Marchmont area; and the Highlands are so close I can smell them when the wind blows right.
-The history: as you can probably imagine, everything in the city is really old and fairly dripping with history. From the gothic churches to the narrow, steep-stepped closes, it's a veritable paradise!
The Bad:
-It's pretty windy here most of the time, and outside of the parks there are NO TREES!!!!
-I'm still at the hostel (fingers crossed not for much longer) and I don't have a job yet (interview yesterday though, good prospect).
-pedestrian crossings/traffic: I haven't figured this all out yet. Obviously I get the whole 'driving on the other side' thing, but the road system here is actually a lot more complicated than that.
-the smoking: Scotland recently passed a wonderful no-smoking-inside rule, which I obviously support, but there are still many people who smoke everywhere else. It's much more prevalent that in Vancouver.
The Ugly:
-I miss fanfiction...and, you know, my family and friends ;)
