the skills you thought you'd forgot

So last week was all the schools sports festivals and while I was helping out with that I ended up doing handstands and cartwheels and stretches etc... generally using muscles that havent been in use for about a decade. Then today I somehow got roped into playing basketball with some of my grade 6 boys. Ive never actually played basketball so Im a bot iff on the rules and such, but I did play goal keeper/shooter in netball for a few years (again about 10 years ago) so Im decent at it. Add in the fact that Im about a head taller than even the oldest of my kids and Im an ok person to have on your team. But running about all lunchtime is something I havent done since I was in primary school so its a bit of a shock to the system I think.

Right now in the staff room today there is me and the vice principle... its a kind of awkward situation all round I feel. I got told when I got in today that the grade 6s would be having standardised testing all day and so wouldnt have time for English class. Which is a shame cos the school Im at today I only go to on fridays and as friday is a day that is more likely to be turned into a public holiday and Japan loves its public holidays, so the kids here are about a chapter or so behind most of my other schools. Which isnt a big deal, it just means Im going to probably cut out a revision lesson here or there from their curriculum.

Oh dear Im yawning now. This is now good, I cant fall asleep yet, Im supposed to look busy for the next 3 hours or so. Which is really hard to do when its a friday. I can sometimes to prep for further classes but as everyone knows "You've gotta get down on Friday." and really I cbf.

I should go pay for lunch now. It was sweet and sour pork!!!
