A big bombshell occurred at work today
Yep, and early this morning, like around 8AM.
In a nutshell, our contract for mail services and switchboard got turffed by our client. Fortunately, we have about a month to find other positions at other sites, and we will be discussing with our integrated account manager on Monday.
So that puts a HUGE potential wrinkle in my plans as far as the house hunt goes, but will press on as I will try to find work at Ricoh.
The bad thing is my site supervisor found out yesterday afternoon while waiting for the bus to go home when someone he knows there at the site ended up taking him home and asked about the email, my sup didn't know about any email and thus was how he heard about it and this morning, one of my co-workers who deals with the top floor of the main building and all the execs found out when they asked about it too as they got the SAME EMAIL. That email was not supposed to be spread around so our boss and our AIM had to scramble and THEN tell us as they were to hold off until Monday when the new contractor to take over were to be here to shadow, um, not good.
So I had to bail out on a potential play date for tomorrow so I can begin to come up with a strategy, knowing I need to stay with my current employer while looking for a house and have also emailed my mortgage lender to verify that and to give her a heads up on the potential job sitch, but have not heard back as yet.
So that's the big thing going down and I have forwarded the email I got with a list of jobs open at Ricoh to peruse tomorrow in preperation for Monday.
Meanwhile, need to get two slices of pizza and some toilet paper and come back so I can get out of my shoes and relax for the evening.
